The aim of this project is to establish an independent forum in the form of an international network involving the major stakeholders in the repair, reinstatement and resilience of flood-damaged property. The network will pursue the following objectives:
- identification and dissemination of good practice in flood repair / reinstatement and flood claims management
- identification and facilitation of in-depth collaborative research into appropriate flooding and property issues
- critical examination of developments in the use of flood resilient repairs
- developing critical perspectives on the impact of flooding on property owners
- development of an information depository for collation of relevant flood repair publications and literature
The network fits a niche in the broad field of flood and flood risk management and specifically relates to the issues raised in Section 12 of the consultation document “Making space for water” (DEFRA, 2004).
Alongside these objectives will be the aim of identifying appropriate funding to sustain the network and its activities beyond the three-year funding period. This may involve widening the membership beyond those stakeholders currently represented and/or broadening the scope of the network to help generate sufficient income. |
